The unique biodiversity of wetlands

Water-saturated (wetland) terrain is called wetland.  Many terrain is humid throughout the year and many in particular climates.  The wetlands are extremely sensitive from biodiversity point of view.  Only special types of vegetation are adapted to grow and thrive on wetlands.  According to a convention passed in 1971 in the city of Ramsar, Iran, the wetland is a place where water is filled for at least eight months in a year.  Places with natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, full-time wet or short-term, stagnant water or unstable water, clean water or unhygienic, saline and muddy waters are covered under wetland.  Each wetland has its own ecosystem (biodiversity), and biodiversity.  These wetlands are habitat for aquatic animals, birds, etc.
